How Scancado results work
Scancado helps you understand packaged food. It does not diagnose a condition or replace advice from a qualified health professional.
We show the evidence we have
Where a product carries a verified Australian Health Star Rating, Scancado can show that rating and its source. Health Star Ratings compare products within similar categories and use nutrition information from the label.
When reliable label information is incomplete, Scancado says so. A zero value and a missing value are treated differently.
Comparisons need to make sense
Suggested alternatives are filtered by product type, dietary suitability and package size where those facts are known. Scancado can withhold a suggestion when identity or suitability is unclear. A higher rating does not automatically mean a product is right for every person.
Corrections are reviewed
You can submit package photos when a product is missing or wrong. Automated tools may read visible label information, but unclear results remain unverified until supporting evidence is reviewed. Submitted photos do not immediately change public product facts.
Use results safely
- Compare similar products rather than unrelated foods.
- Open details when allergies, ingredients or specific nutrients matter.
- Check the package because recipes and labels can change.
- Speak with a health professional for personal advice.
